A festive and impressive appearance of bread, it’s easy to make and soo cute!
Ingredients:
For the dough:
- 1kg sifted flour
- 2 tbsp dry yeast
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 cup oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 2.5 – 3 cups lukewarm water or milk
For the brushing:
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp of milk
For decoration:
- Leek
- Granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp melted butter (or a bit of warm water)

Instructions:
- Sift the flour, add dry yeast and sugar, and mix together
- Mix the eggs and oil, then add to the flour
- Gradually add water/milk, mix and knead well until you get a smooth dough
- If necessary, add more water – the dough will be a bit sticky, but that’s ok)
- Knead the dough for another 10 minutes until it becomes smooth, elastic, and soft
- Form the dough into a ball, sprinkle some oil on it and transfer into a bowl
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, and let it rise at room temperature until doubled in volume
- Remove air from dough, and divide into fist-sized balls
- Place on baking tray, cover, and allow to rise until doubled in size
- While the dough rises, prepare the leek crowns:
- Cut leek into inch-tall segments, and remove the outer layers
- Cut triangles off the top of the segments to make a crown-like appearance
- Heat the oven to 350F in turbo mode
- Beat and egg yolk with a spoonful of milk and brush buns gently
- Gently place a leek crown on every bun and sprinkle with granulated sugar
- Bake for about 25-30 minutes until nicely browned
- While this is happening, mix the honey and melted butter
- After removing the buns from the oven, brush with honey butter mixture and let them cool completely
