Valentine Sugar Cookies

A simple snack perfect to share during Valentines day!

Ingredients:

For the cookies:

  • 170g unsalted softened butter
  • 150g granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg at room temperature
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 280g flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt

For decorations:

  • 150g chocolate of choice melted
  • 2 tbsp sprinkles
  • Powdered sugar

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar, then add an egg and vanilla
  2. Sift in flour and salt, and stir to combine
  3. Divide the dough in half
  4. Roll out one half between sheets of baking paper to 5mm thickness and chill in the fridge
  5. Preheat the oven to 160C fan and line the baking trays
  6. Cut shapes from the chilled dough and place them on the trays, spacing them 2cm apart
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes until slightly browned on the edges, then cool on a rack
  8. Dip half of each cookie in the melted chocolate of choice and transfer into the baking tray baking paper
  9. Another option is to dust with powdered sugar
  10. Sprinkle and decorate as you like and enjoy!

If you can’t eat them all in one sitting, store them in a cool container like a cookie jar!
