Flaky, golden puff pastry encasing rich almond cream and tender apples – a prefect breakfast, dessert, or even snacking option
Ingredients:
- 2 sheets puff pastry
- 1/2 cup almond cream (frangipane)
- 1 medium apple, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1-2 tbsp milk or lemon juice (for icing)
- 50g softened butter
- 75g powdered sugar
- 100g ground almonds
- 1 egg
- 15g cornflour
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp almond extract (for extra fragrance)

Instructions:
- Mix butter, powdered sugar, almonds, egg, cornflour, and extracts together to make the almond cream. Set aside for later
- Preheat oven to 400F. Roll out 2 thawed puff pastry sheets slightly
- Spread almond cream on one sheet, top with thin apple slices, then cover with the second sheet
- Cut into 12 strips, twist or knot each, and place on a parchment-lined tray
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden
- Drizzle with sugar icing (powdered sugar + milk/lemon juice) and enjoy!
