Almond Cream & Apple Puff Pastry Twists

Flaky, golden puff pastry encasing rich almond cream and tender apples – a prefect breakfast, dessert, or even snacking option

Ingredients:

  • 2 sheets puff pastry
  • 1/2 cup almond cream (frangipane)
  • 1 medium apple, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1-2 tbsp milk or lemon juice (for icing)
  • 50g softened butter
  • 75g powdered sugar
  • 100g ground almonds
  • 1 egg
  • 15g cornflour
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract (for extra fragrance)

Instructions:

  1. Mix butter, powdered sugar, almonds, egg, cornflour, and extracts together to make the almond cream. Set aside for later
  2. Preheat oven to 400F. Roll out 2 thawed puff pastry sheets slightly
  3. Spread almond cream on one sheet, top with thin apple slices, then cover with the second sheet
  4. Cut into 12 strips, twist or knot each, and place on a parchment-lined tray
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden
  6. Drizzle with sugar icing (powdered sugar + milk/lemon juice) and enjoy!
